The Direct Answer
Do not assume the ATM test is included merely because a program is advertised as ATP-CTP. Under the FAA testing matrix, a graduation certificate from an authorized ATP-CTP provider is the test authorization for the Airline Transport Pilot Multiengine Airplane knowledge test. The course and exam remain distinct events.
What ATP-CTP Completion Gives You
The authorized course provides the academic and simulator training required by 14 CFR 61.156. After successful completion, the provider issues a graduation certificate used to establish authorization for the ATM test.
Course completion does not mean the student passed the ATM test, completed an ATP practical test or satisfied every flight-experience requirement for the ATP certificate.
What “ATM Included” Can Mean
The quoted package may cover the testing-center fee. Ask for written confirmation.
The provider may reserve or coordinate an appointment, but timing and location can vary.
Ground instruction may prepare you for the test, without the actual exam being bundled.
You may need to schedule and pay for the exam after receiving the graduation certificate.
Questions to Ask the Provider
- Is the ATM knowledge-test fee included in the written quote?
- Who schedules the test and at which testing center?
- When will the graduation certificate be issued?
- What happens if the testing appointment is delayed?
- Does the package include a retest or change fee?
- Are hotel, transport and extra nights excluded?
- Does any advertised type-rating package include a separate practical test?
Course Cost Is Not Total Trip Cost
Even when the test fee is included, compare travel, lodging, local transportation, meals, schedule changes and possible additional training. Use the ATP-CTP cost and provider guide to compare public information consistently.
