What 61.75 generally means
FAA 61.75 is commonly associated with an FAA private pilot certificate issued on the basis of a foreign pilot license. It is not the same as a full U.S. training program, and it does not automatically solve every commercial, ATP, or type rating goal.
Questions to answer before relying on this route
- Is your foreign license valid and verifiable by the issuing authority?
- Do your ratings and privileges match your U.S. goal?
- Do you need an FAA medical certificate for the activity you plan to conduct?
- Will you need additional U.S. training, testing, or an aircraft checkout?
When a written plan helps
If you are choosing between aircraft rental, private flying, additional ratings, commercial training, or ATP preparation, a written plan can help separate what 61.75 may cover from what still requires additional steps.
