Start With Four Separate Questions
A flight school may hold FAA certificates, be authorized to issue documents for a student visa, accept international students, and have experience with TSA Flight Training Security Program requirements. These are related but not identical questions. Confirm each one in writing with the school and the relevant government source.

Part 61 vs Part 141
Part 61 provides a flexible regulatory training route. Part 141 schools use FAA-approved curricula and operate under an FAA pilot-school certificate. Part 141 status alone does not prove that a school can support every international student's visa, funding, housing or career objective.

SEVP, F-1 and M-1 Considerations
Only a school listed and eligible through the Student and Exchange Visitor Program can issue the Form I-20 used for the relevant student-visa process. Flight programs commonly discuss F-1 or M-1 classifications, but the available classification, practical-training implications and permitted activities depend on the school and program. Obtain the current answer directly from the school and U.S. government sources; this website does not provide immigration advice.
TSA FTSP
The TSA Flight Training Security Program has separate security requirements for covered flight training. Do not assume that payment, school admission or visa documentation completes TSA requirements. Ask the provider which training event is covered, when to submit information and whether approval is required before training begins.
Build the Total Budget
Aircraft, instructor, ground school, simulator or training device, testing and checkride preparation.
Housing, transportation, meals, insurance and local travel.
Weather, maintenance, additional lessons, retests, schedule changes and exchange-rate movement.

- What costs are excluded from the quoted tuition?
- How frequently can I realistically fly?
- What happens if I need more hours than the estimate?
- What are the refund and withdrawal rules?
