Extra travel and lodging budget
International pilots should usually reserve an additional US$3,500-7,000 for hotel, meals, local transport, documents, medical or FAA-related administrative items, and international travel buffer. Airfare can add another US$800-2,000 depending on origin country and timing.
What to confirm before paying a deposit
- Whether your license and medical status fit the provider's requirements.
- Whether FAA conversion is needed before, during, or after training.
- Whether the course includes checkride scheduling or only training.
- Whether TSA/FTSP, visa, or travel timing could delay your course.
